Frequently asked questions

Answers about buying, selling and swapping on rebarse: listing fees, the resale value estimator, verification, Trust Score, payments and safety.

What is rebarse?

rebarse is a trust-first platform to buy, sell, or swap pre-owned electronics and fashion in India. Every listing carries a valid invoice plus guided condition details and real proof, a visible Trust Score keeps everyone accountable, and you can see which sellers have verified their identity with Aadhaar. You deal directly with a verified person, on clear terms.

What can I buy, sell, or swap on rebarse?

Premium pre-owned electronics (phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, gaming consoles, audio gear, smartwatches) and premium fashion (sneakers, watches, bags, eyewear). Anything outside these categories isn't supported at launch — we're deliberately staying focused on high-value items where trust and verification matter most.

Can one account buy, sell and swap?

Yes. One rebarse account does all three — your Trust Score, verification and saved addresses follow you whether you're buying, selling or swapping. The one exception is a business: it sells from its own separate business account, chosen when the account is created.

When is rebarse launching, and where?

rebarse is launching across India. Because listings are handled directly between verified people, there's no city-by-city rollout to wait for — join the waitlist on our homepage and you'll be among the first to get access when we go live.

How much does it cost to list an item?

A small one-time fee per listing, and no commission on your sale. Listings come in packs: 1 listing for ₹259, 3 for ₹499, 5 for ₹749, or 10 for ₹1,399 — all prices include 18% GST, and you can pay by UPI, card or netbanking. You buy a pack before you start a listing; if you already have listings left, you go straight to listing.

Why is there a listing fee?

The fee keeps fake and spam listings off rebarse, so buyers take every listing seriously. In return rebarse never takes a cut: whatever your item sells for is yours to keep.

How long are my listings valid?

Unused listings stay valid for one year from the day you bought them. If you buy a pack of 3, all three share that one date. You can see your listings and their expiry dates under Account → Listing packs.

What happens if my listing isn't approved?

Every listing is checked by rebarse before it goes live. If it isn't approved, the listing you used comes back to your account, and we tell you what to fix so you can correct it and submit again.

What do I need to list an item?

A valid purchase invoice, real photos of the item, and honest answers to a short set of guided condition questions. Before your first listing you also confirm a short seller declaration. Keep the item with you — listing takes about 20–25 minutes.

Do I need to verify my Aadhaar to sell?

No — you can list without it. Verifying once through DigiLocker adds a verified badge to your profile and every listing you post, so buyers know who they are dealing with. We never store your Aadhaar number. Once verified, your name is locked to the identity we checked.

Can I sell as a business?

Yes. Choose Business when you create your account and add your business details and one proof document, such as a GST registration. rebarse reviews it before your business is marked verified. A business uses its own account — an individual account can't be converted into one.

How is the resale value calculated?

We use current Indian market data combined with your item's specific details — model, storage, age, condition, battery health, accessories and any functional issues — to generate a fair estimate of what a buyer would reasonably pay on the Indian resale market today.

How accurate is the rebarse estimate?

The estimate is a fair market reference to help you set your own asking price — not a guaranteed price. Actual resale values can vary by ±10–15% depending on local demand, exact condition and timing. The fair range shown gives you a realistic bracket.

What if my item is damaged?

Answer the condition questions honestly — for example a cracked screen or a feature that doesn't work — and the estimate reflects the reduced value. It's a guide for your asking price; buyers judge the final condition from your photos, invoice and condition details.

How is the price decided? Can I negotiate?

You set your own price — with a data-driven suggestion so it lands in a fair range. A buyer either accepts it or sends one structured offer within a fair range; there's no open haggling chat. The seller sees every offer together and picks the one they want, and a private chat opens only with that buyer to arrange the handover — never to bargain. No more "Bhai, last price?".

How does rebarse make sure I'm not buying a fake or a "lemon"?

rebarse builds trust into every listing instead of inspecting items itself. Every listing must include a valid invoice, sellers answer guided condition questions and add real proof of the item, and you can see which sellers are Aadhaar-verified — so you can judge honestly before you make an offer. A visible Trust Score shows each seller's track record, and misrepresentation costs them their reputation. Since rebarse never takes custody of the item, you always do a final check yourself before paying — but now with real evidence and an accountable person behind the listing.

How does swapping work?

List your item, mark it open to swap, and note what you'd like in return. When another verified user has what you want and wants what you have, they propose a trade. You both check each other's Trust Score and proof, and if the items differ in value you agree the cash top-up directly between yourselves — rebarse doesn't value items or hold any money. Then you complete the swap directly.

Do I have to share my phone number or address with the other person?

Not while browsing — you never share contact details publicly, and there's no open chat. A private chat opens only after a seller accepts your offer, and only with that one person, to arrange payment and handover. You choose how much to share and how to meet.

Is my payment safe? What if something goes wrong?

rebarse is a listings platform, not a middleman — it doesn't hold your money or take custody of items, so payment and handover happen directly between you and the other person. You stay in control, and you're responsible for your own deal: check the seller's Trust Score, the invoice and proof, inspect the item, and pay only once you're satisfied — ideally in a safe public place or via a trusted courier, using a traceable payment method. What rebarse gives you is a verified, accountable person to deal with.

What is the Trust Score?

Two things are shown for everyone. Your Trust Score adds up everything you've earned: 10 points for creating an account, 10 for confirming your second contact (email and mobile — both are needed to trade), 50 when your first listing goes live, 1,000 for verifying Aadhaar (optional, any time), and 100 for every sale or swap you complete once both of you confirm it; good ratings add more. Your Trust Level — Level 1 to Level 12 — is based on verification, listing and completed deals: the higher your level, the more people trust you, and the higher your listings appear.

How do I get help or report a problem?

Email hello@rebarse.com and tell us what happened — include the listing ID if it's about a listing. We read every message.
