OnePlus green line on the screen: how to claim the free lifetime display replacement in India
OnePlus India replaces displays that develop the green line fault free of cost at its authorised service centres. Here is how to check your phone qualifies, what to carry and how to make the visit go smoothly.
If a thin green line appears on your OnePlus screen, take the phone to any OnePlus authorised service centre and ask for a green line display replacement under the Lifetime Display Warranty. OnePlus says this applies to all its phones sold through authorised channels, with no charge for the display. Physical or liquid damage is not covered, and replacement depends on spare parts being available for your model.
1. Make sure it is the green line fault: The green line fault usually shows up as a thin vertical line that stays put on every app and on the lock screen. Take a screenshot: if the line does not appear in the saved image, the problem is in the display panel. Record a short video on another phone as proof in case the line comes and goes.
2. Check how the phone was bought: OnePlus says the policy covers OnePlus phones sold through authorised online and offline channels. Phones bought from OnePlus, its official online stores or authorised retailers in India should qualify. If you bought the phone used, ask the seller for the original invoice.
3. Look for other damage first: The free replacement does not cover damage caused by people or outside factors. Check for cracks, dents, a bent frame or signs of water. Be honest at the counter if the phone has been dropped or repaired at a local shop before, as this can change what the centre offers.
4. Back up your data: A display swap does not normally wipe your phone, but service work always carries some risk. Back up photos, WhatsApp chats and contacts to your Google account or a computer before the visit. Remove the SIM tray contents if the centre asks for it.
5. Find an authorised OnePlus service centre: OnePlus says it has around 450 service centres across more than 300 cities, and you can visit any of them. Use the service centre list on OnePlus support to pick the closest one. You can also reach OnePlus through its toll-free number, chat or email if you have questions first.
6. Ask for the green line display replacement: At the counter, say your phone has the green line issue and you want a replacement under the Lifetime Display Warranty, also called the Green Line Worry-Free Solution. Show the photo or video and your invoice. The engineers will inspect the phone before they confirm.
7. Check the job sheet says no charge: OnePlus states there are no charges for the green line display replacement at authorised centres. Read the job sheet before you sign and make sure the display is listed as free. If someone quotes a fee for the screen, ask them to recheck the policy or contact OnePlus support from the centre.
8. Ask what happens if parts are short: The free replacement is promised within the parts supply period for your model. For older phones, the centre may not have the display in stock. Ask how long the wait is, or whether any other option, like an upgrade offer, is available for your model.
9. Test the new screen before you leave: Once the display is fitted, check touch across the whole screen, brightness, the fingerprint sensor under the display and the front camera. Keep the job sheet and any new invoice safely for future claims.
