Noise smartwatch not connecting to the NoiseFit app: what to try
When a Noise watch will not show up in the NoiseFit app, or keeps dropping its connection, the cause is usually app permissions, background limits on the phone or an old pairing record. These steps follow Noise's own support advice, from simple restarts to a full unpair and reset.
Update the watch and the NoiseFit app, switch on Bluetooth and location, and give NoiseFit location permission. Then pair from inside the app under Devices, and on Android let the app run in the background with battery optimisation off. If it still fails, unbind the watch in the app, forget it in your phone's Bluetooth list and pair again.
1. Update the app and the watch: Open the Play Store or App Store and install any NoiseFit update. If the watch has connected recently, check for a watch firmware update inside the app too. Noise lists this as the first thing to check for reconnection problems.
2. Turn on Bluetooth and location: Switch on Bluetooth and GPS (location) on the phone, then open the phone's app settings and allow location for NoiseFit. On Android 12 and later, also allow the Nearby devices permission if the phone asks, as older Android versions use location access to find Bluetooth watches.
3. Restart Bluetooth, the phone and the watch: Turn Bluetooth off and back on, or restart the phone completely. Restart the watch as well. Then open the app and try pairing again.
4. Pair from inside the app: Open NoiseFit and see whether the watch reconnects by itself. If it does not, connect it by hand from the Devices section using Pair device or Bind device, depending on your app version. Pick your watch's name from the list that appears.
5. Free the watch from other phones and crowded spots: If the watch is still connected to another phone or tablet, unpair it there first, as it may not show up for a new one. If you cannot find its name in the list, move away from places with lots of Bluetooth gadgets, such as an office desk or a busy shop, and search again.
6. Let NoiseFit run in the background on Android: If the watch connects when you open the app but drops later, the phone is probably closing NoiseFit to save battery. Add the app to the protected or allowed background list, lock it in your recent apps and turn off battery optimisation for it. If you use a phone cleaner app, add NoiseFit to its whitelist.
7. Clear the cache or reinstall the app: On Android, go to the phone's app settings, open NoiseFit and clear its cache. If pairing still fails, uninstall and reinstall the app, sign in and try again.
8. Unbind and pair again from scratch: In the app, go to Devices and unbind or unpair the watch. On an iPhone, also open Settings > Bluetooth, tap the info icon next to the watch and choose Forget This Device. Then pair the watch again from inside the app.
9. Try another phone, then reset the watch: Test with a family member's phone to see whether the problem is your phone or the watch. If no phone can find it, reset the watch as a last step. On some models, such as the Noise Explorer, this is under Settings > Reset & Restart > Restore factory settings, but the menu name differs between watches and a reset wipes the data stored on it.
