boAt Airdopes one side not working: how to reset and re-pair
When only the left or right Airdope plays, the fix boAt itself suggests first is a reset followed by a fresh pairing. The catch is that the reset gesture is different on almost every model, so this guide lists the ones we checked and shows you where to find yours.
Start by forgetting the Airdopes in your phone's Bluetooth settings, then reset the earbuds using the gesture for your exact model (for example, 5 taps on both buds for Airdopes 141, or a 5 second long touch on both buds for Airdopes 161, 163, 170 and 311 Pro). Put them back in the case, wait a few seconds, take them out and pair them as a new device. If one bud still stays silent after cleaning the charging pins and a second reset, raise a warranty claim on boAt's support portal.
1. Rule out the simple causes: Move closer to your phone and take it out of your pocket or bag, since boAt quotes a range of about 10 metres with no obstructions. Check that the media volume is up and that the left/right balance in your phone's accessibility settings is centred. Put both buds in the case, close the lid for a few seconds, then take them out again and test.
2. Forget the Airdopes on every device: Open Bluetooth settings on your phone, tap the Airdopes entry and choose Forget or Unpair. Do the same on any laptop or tablet the buds have connected to before. boAt asks for this before every reset, because an old pairing can make the earbuds reconnect in mono or to the wrong device.
3. Clean the charging pins on the buds and in the case: If one bud is flat, it will not play no matter how often you reset. Look at the small metal contacts on each earbud and the matching pins inside the case. Wipe them gently with a cotton bud lightly dampened with alcohol and let them dry fully. On a new pair, check for any thin protective sticker left on the charging points. Then put both buds in the case and confirm the charging lights come on for each side.
4. Reset the earbuds using your model's gesture: The reset gesture changes from model to model, so use the one boAt lists for your pair (see the notes below). As a pattern: on Airdopes 141 you take both buds out and tap each touch sensor 5 times; on Airdopes 161, 163, 170 and 311 Pro you take both buds out and long touch both sensors for 5 seconds; on Airdopes 131 and 138 you reset one bud at a time with a quick triple press. Watch for the red LED flash that confirms the reset worked.
5. Let the case settle them: Put both earbuds back in the case in the right slots and close the lid. boAt's steps for models like the Airdopes 170 and 311 Pro say to wait about 5 seconds before opening it again. This lets the two buds find each other before they look for your phone.
6. Pair them as a new device: Open the lid, take both buds out and wait for the pairing lights (alternating red and blue on many models). On your phone, search for Bluetooth devices and tap the Airdopes name once. Play a song and check sound from both sides before closing settings.
7. Power the silent bud on by hand: If one side still does not wake up, boAt suggests switching it on manually. On most touch models this is a long touch on the sensor for about 2 to 3 seconds until its LED lights up. Then put both buds back in the case, take them out and see if they join in stereo.
8. Raise a warranty claim if one side stays dead: Go to support.boat-lifestyle.com and choose Claim your warranty. Select Bluetooth Earphones / Headphones as the product group, pick your model, enter your pin code and upload a clear, unedited invoice along with the serial number from the box. If no service centre serves your pin code, boAt shows a complaint registration form for door-to-door replacement. You can follow the ticket later with Track your Warranty Ticket.
