OLED iPad mini goes on sale in India: what it means for older iPad mini value
The new OLED iPad mini is on sale in India from Rs 82,900. Here is what changed and what it means if you own or want an older iPad mini.
Apple's new iPad mini goes on sale in India on 6 November. It has a bigger OLED screen, a new chip and a much higher price than the last model. If you own an older iPad mini, or plan to buy one, this launch changes the picture.
What Apple launched and what it costs in India: Apple announced the new iPad mini on 26 October. Pre-orders in India opened on 28 October, and sales start on 6 November. The Wi-Fi model starts at Rs 82,900. The Wi-Fi + Cellular model costs Rs 1,00,900. Students can get education pricing from Rs 76,900. Storage options are 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, in midnight and starlight finishes.
What is new in this iPad mini: The screen is now an 8.5-inch OLED panel. It is larger than before, but the tablet is about the same size, because the bezels are 24% thinner. Apple says peak brightness is more than double the last model. Inside is the A20 Pro chip. Apple claims up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU speed and up to 2.7 times faster graphics. The tablet is 5.4mm thin and has an IP67 water and dust rating. It runs iPadOS 27. The front and rear cameras are both 12MP. Cellular models use Apple's C2 modem, which Apple says gives up to 50% faster data speeds. Apple also says the tablet is thinner and lighter than before.
A big price jump over the last model: The previous iPad mini, with the A17 Pro chip, launched in India in October 2024. Its Wi-Fi model started at Rs 49,900. So the starting price of the new model is far higher. For many buyers, Rs 82,900 is a lot to pay for a small tablet. This gap matters for anyone thinking about a used one.
What this means for older iPad mini owners and buyers: When a new model costs much more, demand for the previous model often stays strong. Many people only want a small iPad for reading, notes and videos. The A17 Pro model still does these jobs well. If you own an older iPad mini and want the OLED screen, check what yours is worth first. Clean condition, good battery health and the original box all help it sell. Keep the charger and the bill if you still have them. If you were waiting for prices to fall, a used A17 Pro model may suit you better. Check the screen, battery and storage before you pay. Make sure the seller has signed out of their Apple account.
